Features

Every photo on the job, in one place

The in-app camera shoots straight to the project — nothing lands in anyone’s personal camera roll. Photos organize themselves by date, and two years from now you can actually find the one that proves the wall was insulated.

Built for how crews actually shoot

  • In-app camera — opens fast, shoots to the project, never saves to the device. When a foreman leaves, your project photos do not leave in his pocket.
  • Date-grouped feed — scroll the job like a timeline. Every photo is timestamped and attributed to who took it.
  • Tags, search, comments — tag by trade or area, search later, and argue about it in the comments instead of a text thread.
  • Bulk upload — drag-and-drop hundreds of photos from a desktop; deduplication means re-uploads do not eat storage.
  • Offline capture — shoot in the basement with no signal; photos queue and upload when you reconnect.

Photos that do work

Photos in BuildPunch are not a silo — they attach to punch items (with markup arrows and circles), drop into daily reports, and back up verification when a sub says something is fixed. Subs and even QR-code visitors can contribute photos without paid seats.

And they are yours: the full-project export downloads every photo, full resolution, in a ZIP. No ransom on the way out.

Photo documentation questions

Do BuildPunch photos save to the phone’s camera roll?

No. The in-app camera uploads directly to secure project storage and never writes to the device. Company photos stay with the company, even when crew members leave.

How are photos organized?

Automatically into a date-grouped feed per project, with timestamps and the uploader recorded. You can tag, search, comment, and open any photo in a lightbox to annotate it.

Is photo documentation included on the free plan?

Yes. Photos, the in-app camera, and the feed are included on every plan, including the free tier (500 MB storage). Paid plans add storage — up to 100 GB on Business, with inexpensive storage add-ons beyond that.

Can I get my photos out of BuildPunch?

Yes. Export the entire project — photos at full resolution, drawings, reports, metadata — as a ZIP at any time. No export fees, no lock-in.

Can subcontractors and visitors add photos?

Yes. Invited subs contribute free, and scoped QR-code access lets external parties upload photos to a project without any account at all.
