Punch items get out of your way
Released 2026-09-13
Your caption sticks, finished items step aside, deleting is a plain button with Undo on the phone, and you can assign a punch item to anyone by name.
The caption you type is the caption you get
When you take a photo and make it a punch item, the caption you typed on the review screen now stays with the photo and shows up on the item and in the report. Before this, that first line was thrown away and you had to type it again.
How to use it: Capture, type your caption, tap Make punch item. That's it.
Finished items step aside
The All tab now shows only items that are still in play. Finished items live under the new Done tab, so the default list is your to-do list.
How to use it: Punch items, tap Done to see what's finished.
Delete a punch item
Open a punch item and tap Delete, on the phone or on the web. It asks once first. On the phone you then get eight seconds to tap Undo; on the web the confirm is the last step. Deleted items are kept for 30 days and can be brought back on request, so a wrong tap is not the end of it. The person who created the item, the project manager, and the project owner can delete.
How to use it: Punch item, Delete, confirm. On the phone, tap Undo if you change your mind.
Assign a punch item to anyone by name
Type "Painter", or any name, in the assignee picker and tap Assign to "Painter". You don't need the person in the app first. A name just prints on the report; a project member still gets notified. The picker also remembers who you assigned recently.
How to use it: Punch item, Assignee, type a name, tap the first row.
The walkthrough report prints what you wrote
The punch walkthrough PDF now shows your description and your notes under each item, with the room on its own line. Photo captions get two lines instead of one cut-off line.
How to use it: Finish and Export on the walkthrough, same as before.
