Steer your PTZ camera, and uploads that start right away

Released 2026-09-04

Pan, tilt and zoom a jobsite camera from the live view, photos start uploading the moment you shoot on site, and click-to-zoom on the web.

Steer your PTZ camera from the live view

If a jobsite camera can pan, tilt and zoom, you can now drive it from BuildPunch. Open the camera full-screen and a small arrow pad with zoom buttons sits over the bottom-right of the picture. Each tap nudges the camera a step and it stops on its own. The pad fades out after a few seconds so it never covers the picture; tap or move the mouse to bring it back. Anyone who can watch the camera can steer it, and every move is logged.

How to use it: an admin opens Edit camera, ticks "This camera can pan/tilt/zoom", enters the camera system's control link and login, and taps Test control. From then on the pad shows in the expanded view on the web and in the app.

Photos start uploading the moment you shoot

Big batches used to sit at "Waiting" for the better part of a minute before anything moved, and a photo that hit a bad patch of signal could wait minutes for its turn again. Now, when your phone is on a known jobsite, photos start uploading in the background as you take them, before you even pick the job. Anything that fails retries within seconds, and reopening the app after it was in the background picks the queue back up immediately.

How to use it: nothing to do. Shoot as usual; the Uploads tab shows what's moving.

Click to zoom in the photo viewer

On the web, a single click on a photo now zooms in right where you clicked, and a click zooms back out. Drag to look around while zoomed, or use the scroll wheel.

How to use it: open any photo and click the spot you want a closer look at.

Signing in after signing up yourself

If you created your own account and later got stuck at "verify your email" with an expired link, that's fixed two ways. When a manager has already added your email to a project or company, you're verified automatically, no link needed. And the login screen on the phone now has a "Resend verification email" button, so a fresh link is one tap away.

How to use it: just log in. If the app asks you to verify, tap Resend and check your inbox.
