Send each sub just their own dates, get nudged for the day's report at a time you pick, and watch photo lists come up the moment you open them.
Send each sub just their dates
Pick a trade on the job schedule and send that sub a link showing only their work — their bars, their dates, and the one job right before theirs so they know what they're waiting on. No login, no app, nothing else on the job visible. Click "Share with Electrical" twice and you get the same link back, so the one already in their inbox keeps working. When they're done on the job, revoke it and the link goes dead.
How to use it: Schedule → pick a trade chip → Share with [trade] → copy the link and text it to them. The × next to a link revokes it.
Get reminded for the day's report, at your time
Set the time you want to be nudged for the day's report and BuildPunch nudges you then — 3:30 if you write it from the truck, 6:00 if you write it after dinner. It's your setting, per person, and it only fires on days you actually have a report due and haven't filed one.
How to use it: Settings → Notifications → Daily report reminder. Pick a time, done. Turn it off the same way.
Yesterday's crew is already filled in
Open a new daily report and last working day's crew rows are already there — the trades, the counts, the names. Change what changed and submit. On a job where the same six trades show up every day, that's the whole crew section done before you type anything.
How to use it: Daily Reports → New. The crew rows come pre-loaded; edit or delete any of them.
See the weather before you submit
The report now shows you the conditions and temperature for the jobsite while you're writing it, instead of you guessing at the end of the day or finding out what got filled in after the fact. If it's wrong for where you actually were, type over it.
How to use it: Daily Reports → New. The weather line fills itself in at the top of the form.
Photos in the order you actually shot them
Photos now sort and group by the moment the shutter fired, not the moment the upload finished. A morning walk uploaded at lunch reads as the morning walk. Batches that finish out of order — a big video landing after the photos that came later — no longer scramble the day.
How to use it: Nothing to change. Photos, the feed, and daily-report photos all use capture time now.
Lists that are already there when you open them
Punch lists, photo grids, and document lists come up instantly instead of showing a spinner while everything reloads. Photo grids load the small version of each picture first and only pull the full-size one when you open it, so a 200-photo job stops eating your data and your battery.
How to use it: Nothing to change — open the tab and it's there.
2 GB files and 20-minute videos
The upload limit is now 2 GB per file, and the in-app video recorder goes to 20 minutes instead of 5. The old "100 MB" note in Documents was never actually enforced and was scaring people off uploading real files — a full walkthrough video, a big drone photo, a scanned plan set are all fine now. Storage is metered on your plan, so long uploads count against space, not against a per-file rule.
How to use it: Upload the way you always have. On a slow connection a big file now gets four hours to finish instead of timing out partway.
Rename a drawing set
A plan set that came in named "Scan0043" or "REV-C FINAL FINAL" can be renamed to what people on the job actually call it. The drawings inside stay put — only the set name changes.
How to use it: Drawings → open the set → Rename in the set header. Two sets can't share a name.
Everything about the app, in one card
Settings has an About BuildPunch card: what version you're on, what's new in it, and a single button that clears the app's cache and pulls the newest version. When something looks stuck or out of date, that button is the fix — no deleting and reinstalling, no App Store trip.
How to use it: Settings → scroll to About BuildPunch → tap it open. "Update now" is the button.
Also fixed
- Sideways photos. Pictures taken with the phone held sideways were saving rotated. New captures come out the right way up, and there's now a ↻ Rotate button on the web photo viewer to fix any older photo — including the copies already sitting in reports.
- Sub issue reports wouldn't save from the web and gave no error. They save now, and only your own staff can open and manage them.
- Mileage for taxes. Anyone tracking mileage can export their own trips for a year as a spreadsheet from their phone.
Also fixed: saving notes on a subcontractor
Resolution notes on a subcontractor issue were being dropped on save, and two issue types ("cost" and "compliance") could never be saved at all. Both fixed — and across the web app, fifteen more places that used to fail silently now show you a message when something doesn't save.
